How Can I Be Sure That God Loves Me, Too? - Rev. Mel White
Rebecca and I had the privilege to host a weekend event for Mel White when he came to Portland two years ago.
He is a gay minister, who came out in his 40s. Prior to his coming out, he was a very successful ghostwriter for Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, Billy Graham and others. Sorry no Catholics or Lutherans.
For twenty years he tried to change himself, even using self-administered shock therapy. If ever there was a person who had a right to run away from the church and God, it was Mel White.
Mel’s Portland connection included receiving degrees from Warner Pacific and University of Portland.
We are to be commended for working through the RIC (Reconciling in Christ) study and discernment. However, the work is not done, and it so crucial to continually hear and practice the large embrace of Jesus.
This is a 20-minute video of a sermon Mel gave about 15+ years ago. Remember the scriptures aren’t brand new either.
Every time I watch it, I tear up.
