"Once you have flown you will walk the earth
with your eyes turned skyward, for there you
have been and there you long to return."
-Leonardo da Vinci
I carry this quote in my wallet for many reasons, the primary being that it reminds me of the power of learning. Leonardo da Vinci was a polymath, having curiosities in many subjects. This curiosity is important to develop in all areas of life, including ones faith.
What has most recently grabbed my curiosity in relation to faith is the ideas of giving, that is, giving all versus only giving surplus. While it was illustrated using economics, it is also applicable in social interactions; giving oneself fully in interpersonal relationships. This involves listening and being present.
With the stresses of this time of year, giving myself
fully to other in conversation will help me grown in
my faith as a result may help others as well. This is
not easy and it will create some discomfort within.
Discomfort often precedes growth so patience is necessary.
