Teaching Our Children
At Mission of the Atonement, we try to highlight the best of both our Roman Catholic and Lutheran traditions. We invite children to take seriously both the Bible and their life experience. As well as biblical and traditional content, our teachers emphasize community, respect, care for one another and the earth, the call to service in the world, the wideness of God’s mercy and the unending array of inclusive names and metaphors for God.
We have a staff Sunday school coordinator and volunteer teachers who alternate weeks. We also have special guests who lead lesson-based projects in art, science, cooking, drama, crafts, etc. Sunday school classes do not meet on the final Sunday of each month, as we all enjoy a potluck brunch together at that hour.
